Coimbatore – A Journey Through Culture and Landscapes
Eight months across the district, with a companion documentary film.
Books by L Ramachandran
For L. Ramachandran, a photograph is more than an image — it is a record of a moment, a culture, a place and a story.
Coimbatore
Lasting archives
His coffee table books bring together photography, research, documentation and visual narrative to create lasting archives of Tamil Nadu’s heritage, art, architecture, education, sports and social history.
Several of these projects have been commissioned by the Government of Tamil Nadu and other significant public initiatives, documenting people, places, traditions and moments that hold lasting cultural value.
Among his notable works, Chennai to Madras captures the city during the unprecedented Covid-19 lockdown, while Medley of Art, a project that has been in the making for 15 years, presents a mesmerizing visual exploration that brings together colour theory, fine art photography, set design and costume in an ambitious multidisciplinary celebration of art.
Each book represents a carefully curated visual journey, transforming photographs into meaningful stories and preserving them as enduring records for generations to come.
